The day I walked into Jennifer's studio I could already feel the magic in the air. Not only was I welcomed with hugs and kisses from his lovely blue headed vixen, but I felt an overwhelming presence of love and acceptance! Being in a place where I could be myself, mind body and soul without any judgment spectacular. As a young lady with short hair, a rounded belly and lots of imperfections being able to feel like a queen was really something divine. I had the opportunity to play with different outfits, makeup And poses and such a fun creative way. We used the whole day getting to know each other from her warmth to wonderful hospitality she was a dream to work with. An instant friendship and working relationship was built and I couldn't be happier. I left the studio that day with a new perspective on life which is to live fabulously, love unconditionally, and strive for greatness, it is in us to be fearless! These are the videos that made us fall in love with Jodi: https://www.instagram.com/p/7QZLIRQPa2BVY0Uwm2Z1cD8C3WcH7saN4Mlic0/?taken-by=sassyjodi https://www.instagram.com/p/7QtovMwPb1i-ATPYWTwhZBn-lRhVyKKGXKqHk0/?taken-by=sassyjodi We have decided that from time to time we are going to share with you reasons why we love the Lady Luck experience. And today marks our first entry. Today I would like to share this.. it may seem small to you, after reading it, but to us, it is a BIG, important thing. 8/10 times a client comes in the the studio, they are shy, they lack self confidence and are very unsure of themselves. The typical thing we see in the beginning of a session, she is reserved, shy and cautious. She doesn't want to change in front of us, she is a little quiet and shes totally unsure of herself and what she is about to do. After spending a little time getting her hair and makeup done, she starts to let her guard down. During this time,we talk.We plan.We laugh and we sometimes cry. A huge part of what makes the Lady Luck experience what it is, is the process. Like I always say, its not a "Wham Bam, Thank you ma'am" type of process. Its MUCH more than that. We take the time to get to know you before you even walk in the door for your shoot. Either through a private consultation at the studio, a meeting at the local coffee shop, a phone call or emails, we make it a priority to get to know you before you come in for your session. This is one heck of an important step. There is so much I can talk about in this blog entry, so much I can tell you about. But my point of this one specific post is this.. it never will get old, seeing how different SHE is, walking OUT of our studio. That nervous, uncertain, not to confident girl.. SHE is different, SHE is feeling like she matters again, SHE is allowed to be her. For SHE found that girl inside of her that she knew was there all along, but just had to find a way to get her out. That same girl, by the end of the shoot, is walking around in her bra and underwear, her head held high, a smile on her face and you had better watch out.. she is on FIRE! It truly is amazing. See.. its a pretty BIG thing huh? Thank you for reading my random thoughts.. Im no writer, but you really can't go wrong when you speak from the heart. Written by Jennifer McCready - Owner and Photographer for Lady Luck. I met Jennifer in March, 2015 after having some amazing phone consultations. I originally contacted Lady Luck Pin Ups to do a photo shoot for the back cover of my book Unfinished Ink and for my website. We initially had chemistry and after meeting we both knew it was fate that our paths had crossed. After an 8 hour day, I drove Jennifer home and we had a really great conversation about women and their bodies and people judging each other. No matter what size you are, fat or skinny, someone is there to cut on you. You are either too fat or too skinny. We both agreed that at some point we would have to work together to try to squash beauty standards and to revolutionize the world to make everyone feel good about who they are no matter what media dictates to us. Getting back to my Lady Luck experience for a moment…as some of you might know me, I have always been self-conscious of my body and for a good part of my life, I never even owned a bathing suit and when I did wear one, I would still cover myself up. So when I did this shoot, I was definitely out of my comfort zone. But Jennifer’s contagious energy and spontaneous bursts of passionate tears, made it a wonderful place to be and I soon felt very comfortable in my own skin. Now I am sure some of the photos could come across as provocative or “pornographic” however, being nude is not pornography. Also, I was just shy of 40 when I did this shoot and as everyone knows that when you age, your body does not look the same as it did when you were 18 years old. At least mine doesn’t. I’m proud of how the photos turned out and proud of my age and last year definitely gave me a whole new level of confidence and freedom and meeting Jennifer was the start of it. Now getting back to the present day… When Jennifer asked me to be part of the Lady Luck team to write and help share stories of all the women (and men) and their Lady Luck experience, I was ecstatic! And now here I am. Not only am I happy to help these people with their journey to feel good about themselves but Jennifer and I have many plans to help get the message out that you are beautiful inside and out and sometimes you need to hear that and we will be here to tell you that. I am so happy to be part of the Lady Luck team and I am looking forward to sharing your stories. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words and they were right! Thanks Jennifer for my Lady Luck experience and for all that you do. It is absolutely amazing how the world works. Now, whether you believe in God, or the universe or something else.. you gotta admit.. some things happen that just make you go.. HOLY HANNAH!
Just over a week ago, I received a message on our Lady Luck Facebook page. I opened it up, and was greeted by amazing drawings of some of Lady Luck's images. I wont go into to detail about these drawings.. because we have a surprise coming up sometime over the next few months that we think you shall find awesome! I got to talking to this person, who was quite obviously delivered to me for a reason and came to find out that she has a blog. As I type this I am shaking my head. Seriously... I cant stop. I am BESIDE myself that this woman and I met. Especially after reading her blog. I like to describe things with words.. well duh Jen (I am talking to myself, I do this sometimes) What I mean is I like to describe things with just single worlds. Mind you I am NOT a writer.. but this blog.. is POWERFUL. EMOTIONAL and RAW. I'm going to stop blabbering on and share the link already. Thank you April for entering into my life. - Jennifer And here it is.. please grab a coffee, wine, beer, soda.. and read this blog: http://www.aprilgigiangels.blogspot.ca/ It all started on Halloween day back in 2011. Our client Jo-Anna had a massive breakdown, like so many of us have experienced ourselves but are ashamed to admit it. She hated her life and her situation. Jo-Anna took this incident and decided the very next day to change her life around. She made a phone call to her doctor to seek help and counselling. Jo-Anna has lived a life taking care of others before herself. She is a Developmental Service Worker who works with disabled and mentally challenged adults. She is also a mother to a beautiful 16 year old boy. She first met up with Lady Luck at the Sexapolooza booth a couple years back. After putting a deposit down and making a date, she chickened out. It wasn’t until last year that she felt rejuvenated and confident enough to be able to do a shoot and this was not only a birthday gift to herself but a reward to celebrate herself. Which is exactly the kind of attitude we love here at the studio! A declaration of being proud of who you are and working very hard to get there. After leaving an abusive relationship and nearly dying from blood clots in her lungs, this brave and beautiful woman finally looked in the mirror and said “start moving instead of just existing.” She did just that. There is zero shame in asking for help to better yourself and nothing but respect for taking the necessary steps to do so. She also enrolled in school to further her education in her field and found a new relationship. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jo-Anna on the phone to share her story and I am so proud of you for saying that although you are in a relationship, you are working on being okay by yourself and on your own. So many of feel like we need to rely on someone else for happiness but the truth of it is, it comes from within you. You need to feel good about yourself and take care of yourself in order to take care of others. Jo-Anna came into the studio bold and fearless and ready to tell us that she is proud of who she is and what she looks like. She feels, and is, sexy and gorgeous! And you my friend, are an inspiration. It takes courage to not only bare your skin but your soul. We love that you chose Lady Luck to represent you and to tell your story. We can’t wait to have you back in the studio because you shine and radiate positivity and we need more people like you to encourage and inspire others to get up and start living the life that they deserve. Thanks Jo-Anna for sharing your Lady Luck experience!
